Taipei
Written by silver on November 17th, 2003| 11/17/03 We finally got to Taipei at around 8 pm. My first uncle came to pick us up from the airport and took us to his shop. He is currently in the business of selling taxis. There, we picked up my aunt and headed back to their home. There home was more like the family building, a 5 story building each floor being a ‘home’. The first floor used to be the family store, and the family lived in the upper floors. As everyone grew up each of my uncles inherited a floor of their own. My mom, being female, didn’t get to inherit property, talk about unfair.….Upon arrival, we took our luggage up to the third floor which belonged to my second uncle but since he’s living in Japan, it is currently vacant. The building had drastically changed since the last time I visited. They had done quite a lot of renovation and the place actually looks really nice. Our floor had two bedrooms, but only one had a bed, the other was used as storage, so I guess I’ll be sharing the room with my mom. The rest of the neighborhood looked pretty much the same. Like many places, buildings don’t change much, the insides and the people do. |
