Taiwan metroTaking the metro in Taipei is very, very convenient. Everything is labeled clearly; the trains come very often and are very clean. After going through all the metro systems in Europe, Taipei is a piece of cake. During the day there isn’t a lot of traffic but during the evenings you have to get in line to board. For the most part, a short trip will cost you nt20, and it goes up to nt40 for the farther places.

To get a ticket you simply walk up to one of the ticket machines, punch in which price fare you want (fare price is listed on the map), put in your money and you’re ready to go.

All the stations are clearly labeled with the English translation. They also call out the station name in Taiwanese, Mandarin, and English before arrival. I think foreigners will have an easy time using the metro system in Taipei.
